Deputy Minister Ch. Triantopoulos

Dr Christos Triantopoulos is the Deputy Minister for Climate Crisis & Civil Protection. He studied Economics in the University of Crete and he acquired a Master Degree in European and International Studies at the University of Athens. He holds a PhD in Comparative Political Economy (Athens University of Economics and Business), and he completed a part of his studies in the London School of Economics, with scholarship.

From 2014 to 2019 he was a Research Fellow at the Centre of Planning and Economic Research, specialized on financial system supervision and regulation. During his research activity, he published numerous reports and papers in scientific journals and he contributed to Greek and foreign collective works. He taught economics and fiscal policy in the University of Thessaly, the Technological Educational Institute of Peloponnese and the National School of Public Administration and Local Government. Moreover, he was employed as Scientific Associate for Economic Affairs in the Hellenic Parliament and the Hellenic Fiscal Council, Advisor in the General Accounting Office of the Ministry of Finance, and in the Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, Shipping and Tourism.

From 2019 to 2021 he served as General Secretary of Economic Policy in the Ministry of Finance. As part of his duties, he was President of the Strategy Committee on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism in the meetings of the Council of Finance Ministers of the European Union (ECOFIN), accompanying the Minister of Finance and the Alternate Minister of Finance. In addition, he was deputy to the Minister of Finance as Chairman of the Interministerial Committee on State Aid, which handles state aid issues with a significant impact on the country's economic activity. Moreover, during the period 2022 – 2023 he held the position of Chairman of the Audit Committee of the European Central Bank.

From August 2021 to May 2023, he served as Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister for State Aid and Natural Disaster Recovery and Chairman of the Government Committee for State Aid, which coordinates and ensures the implementation of the institutional framework for state assistance and natural disaster recovery issues.
