With the participation of the General Secretary of Hellenic Republic Lt General (ret) Margaritis Mouzas, concluded yesterday in Rome, the 2nd Steering Committee meeting of the European project entitled “FIRE 4” organized by the Italian Civil Protection Department.
In the meeting participated General Directors and delegates of Civil Protection from France, Italy, Portugal and Spain.
Among others, the national representatives welcomed the participation of Greece as an official partner and discussed the possible extension of “Fire 5” to other members of the European Mechanism.
The national representatives approved the extension of “initiative” which will be titled -from now on- as “Fire 5” with the Hellenic Republic to be the 5th member.
Finally, during the 2nd Steering Committee the General Secretary of the Hellenic Republic announced the participation of Hellas, with aerial means to the “SARDINIA 2008”, the exercise that will take place in Sardinia from the 16th until the 18th of April 2008. It will be the largest real scale exercise on forest fires ever held with the participation of ground and aerial forces from the 5 country-members.
